3D cube

Concept of Idea

The idea of this 3D cube is comes from my favorite movies from Disney. I made the puzzles with the combination of my favorite movies from Disney. The concept is mainly on the Disney World that I like and the puzzle shows the funny and playful personality of mine. The puzzle game represents joyful and It is quite means to every child during their childhood. On the other hand, Disney movies also mean lot for every kid especially for me. Besides, Disney movies are all with the moral value that could educate the youngster such as determination, hardworking and so on. The Disney movies also act as my motivation when I feel depress or sad as the movies are full with the cute characters, nice songs and the stories are beautiful. I could gain back my confidence and hope when watching the Disney movie. So, I decided to combine these two favorites together in the 3D cube to express myself hoe the Disney movies mean to me and the puzzle represents one of my personality.

Cube Design

This 3D cube is divided into two layers and each layer with double side puzzles. The first layer is the puzzle with the images of the Pocahontas movies from Disney Present. The back side of the first layer is image of my favorite movie Mulan. The second layer is the images of Mickey and Minnie mouse and the back side of it is the image of Winnie the Pooh. The outside of the cube also has the images of Lion King, Disney Villains, Little Mermaid, Disney Princess, Disney Castle and Mickey Mouse.

This cube is with 14cm long, 10com width and14.4cm height. The inside of the cube is filled with the puzzle cubes which is 2cmx2cm each. Each layer has 34 of the puzzle cubes and the overall number of the small cubes is 136.

The outside of the cube is made by mounting boards which cut into different sizes and the puzzle cubes inside are made by the ivory and drawing block paper. The mounting boards are stick with masking tapes first to fix the position then apply with the UHU glue. The inner part of the cube is stick with the mounting board as well to support the weight of the puzzle cubes and there is also a magnet inside the cube at the lower layer so that it could stick the other magnet from the outside to close the cube. 

For the puzzle cubes, the templates of the cubes are drawn on the ivory and drawing paper first. After that, they were cut by following the outlines and fold it based on the line sketched, glue them up at last. After the small cubes have been done, the images that used to stick on it have to be cut into pieces in the size of a bit smaller than the cubes. After that, the pieces of images are stick on the cubes accordingly and the cubes are placed into the larger cube that made from mounting board.
